John Vode

John first studied Kinesiology and Physiology at Indiana State University in 1987-89, while there John and his peers founded the Indiana State Strength and Fitness Club which started in its infancy with a two class bodybuilding completion and an open class powerlifting competition. Albert Topps, one of John’s athletes and a Lew Wallace Graduate one the first Light weight Bodybuilding crown. A summer intern opportunity in the engineering field came available so John switched his academic focus to mechanical engineering. John has coached baseball and football at the Collegiate and High School level since 1990 and has provided the strength and conditioning programming for many of the teams he has represented. He developed a NPA (National Pitching Association) based Pitchers Boot Camp which focused on the functional movement associated with pitching mechanics and strength training. The system is still in used with various amateur and professional baseball teams. Most recently, John has coached at Andrean High School in Merrillville, IN. He served as the linebacker coach for the 2013 3A State Champion Team and the 2014 State Runner–up Team, as well as the hitting coach for the 2014 3A State Champion Baseball Team.

John is Special Assignment Scout with the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. He contributes to the player development side under the direction of long time Major League Scout Bill Bryk and current Coordinator Chris Carminucci. The group is responsible for scouting prospects from Independent Professional baseball, and organizes semi-annual invitation only camps. The Arizona Diamondbacks currently lead Major League baseball with Free agents signed from independent baseball with 30 players signed in 2014. The most notable to date would be future all-star David Peralta, the current Right Field for the Dbacks. Bo Schultz, a hard throwing (102 mph) right handed pitcher from Dallas was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in 2014 was also part of the Diamondbacks program.
